Music – Passion, Technology, and Creativity United
Music has been a central part of my life since my youth. My interest in electronic, commercial, and mass-appeal genres like dance, trance, and pop started early and quickly grew into a deep passion. I’ve always been fascinated by how sound can evoke emotions and tell stories. My shelves full of vinyl and CDs were not just valuable collections for my DJ activities in Norway and the UK but also the foundation of my creative journey—a journey that continues to this day.
The Early Years: Radio Host and DJ
At just 14 years old, I began not only consuming music but actively shaping it. As a host on a small local radio station in Norway, I presented new songs and discovered how much I enjoyed sharing music with others. At 17, alongside running my first software company, I took over hosting the After Dark show on Radio 1, Norway’s largest private radio station. For four years, my Friday evening show reached a nationwide audience during prime time. This role opened doors into the music industry, providing access to state-of-the-art studio technology and a network that extended to England. It also taught me how to speak freely and without preparation, a skill that still serves me well in producing YouTube videos.
At the same time, I started DJing in Oslo’s hottest clubs, spinning progressive dance and trance tracks. This period was marked by innovation and creativity—a mix of modern technology and the passion for moving people with music. Between 1986 and 1992, I produced and mixed three gold-certified albums and eleven Top-10 singles.
Music was never just a career goal for me but always a calling that ran parallel to my professional life. I firmly believe that true creativity comes when you don’t solely focus on music and the next big hit.
The Music Studio: Creative Base and Technical Hub
After a creative hiatus in the early ’90s to build my third and largest company at the time, I returned to music production in 1998 and established my first professional music studio. Since then, the studio has continuously evolved and is now a state-of-the-art, multifunctional base for my creative projects. In addition to music production, it serves as a workspace for video editing, photo retouching, and my activities as a creator, influencer, and media/web professional.
From Analog to Digital: A Journey Through Time
I’ve witnessed the evolution of music production from purely analog studios with massive mixing consoles to fully digital environments. Today, I combine the best of both worlds: while digital plug-ins like Waves Mercury, Softube, or Arturia V-Collection offer incredible flexibility, analog equipment remains indispensable for achieving warmth and depth in sound.
Music Production Today: Creativity Meets Precision
Together with my trusted producer partner and other collaborators, I work on projects ranging from pop productions and remixes to mastering assignments. Our teamwork is infused with humor and a shared goal: to create music that resonates with listeners. We rely on both classic synthesizers like the Moog Voyager or JOMOX SunSyn and digital innovations.
Since the 1980s, I’ve worked under pseudonyms—a common practice in the music industry—to remain versatile across various styles and avoid being typecast by labels. My productions are marketed globally by established labels.
Studio Technology
My studio combines analog and digital technology at the highest level, featuring two fully equipped control rooms that complement each other perfectly:
- Main Control Room: Built around ProTools HDX with 64 digital inputs and outputs via Lynx Aurora converters. It specializes in high-quality analog and digital outboard gear, including an Eventide H8000, a Focusrite Red 3 Compressor, a Chandler Limited EMI TG1 Limiter, and many more. The setup includes approximately 40 external analog synthesizers, analog summing mixers, and various monitors.
- Secondary Control Room: Based on Logic Pro, focusing on digital productions with a wide range of software synthesizers such as re-fx Nexus, Omnisphere, Vengeance Phalanx, and Native Instruments Komplete.
The studio is an acoustic masterpiece: a room-within-a-room design ensures optimal sound insulation, and an integrated StudioBox provides perfect conditions for vocal recordings. Carefully planned machine technology and ventilation systems are housed in separate rooms, creating an almost noise-free working environment.
The Studio as a Creative Hub
Beyond music production, my studio is the headquarters for video editing and photo retouching. Many of my creative projects for platforms like hund.info or fahrradblog.de are brought to life here. The studio’s technical capabilities allow me to seamlessly integrate various media, enabling projects that go beyond music alone.
